What is in a Name?

Truly, that which we call our work under any other name would heal as sweet. That said, we wanted our name to reflect not only what we do, but also the feel. I can only write as John, so the opinions here are mine, and Dawn may feel differently. She can feel free to comment, and I know she does. Off we go.

New Beginnings Massage and Wellness, LLC incorporates all that we are. No doubt our clients have experienced some troubles or traumas in their past, as have we all, whether physical, mental, or emotional. We meet a lot of folks who need a reset, and we are always seeking ways to improve their outlook in their particular need. We hope to be the new beginning on the path to total wellness. Our primary (and in common) modality is massage therapy. We both believe in the power of massage to heal and strengthen, and we continue learning as much as we can to bring out the best outcome for our clients’ goals. Now, onto how we are diverse.

New Beginnings Medical Massage is Dawn’s company, under the umbrella of New Beginnings Massage and Wellness, LLC. Dawn has always been drawn to the more medical aspect of massage therapy, and she has undertaken much continuing education furthering her ability to best help her particular clients’ interest. Dawn is the resident guru for all things gut, and many clients have achieved their treatment goals through her lymphatic drainage work. If you have a lot of time on your hands, feel free to ask her how your gut health affects e v e r y t h i n g.

When the Covid-19 pandemic came on the scene, there was a period of uncertainty for massage therapists, as well as their clients. Dawn does not see many clients who are only in need of relaxation, or spa treatment. She is a fixer. Without missing a beat, she hit the reset button, and the books, and obtained her Medical Massage certification. This allowed her to help her clients, and a brand was born: New Beginnings Medical Massage.

New Beginnings Performance is John’s company, under the umbrella of New Beginnings Massage and Wellness, LLC. As an Army OIF veteran, I have experienced my share of trauma and injury. That’s what brought me to massage therapy. I like sports and being athletic, but performance is about much more than that to me. I feel that everyone from desk jockeys to towboaters to professional athletes can be served by optimizing the way they are able to move.  There are so many ways that we hurt ourselves, simply by not being in optimal mechanical condition. One small injury perhaps changes the way you walk. You now walk in a way you shouldn’t. That throws your back out of alignment. Now you have headaches too. It is a slow process of decline that people can’t quite put their finger on when it happened. I am here because I don’t want people to have to live like that.

At New Beginnings Performance, I share Dawn’s vision of bring a one stop shop. I am a NASM certified Nutrition Coach and personal trainer. I don’t train clients in a gym right now; rather, I assess movement in the office and develop a plan to strengthen the under active muscles and stretch/relax the over active. Incorporating massage therapy in this process achieves the best outcome, in most situations.

There are big things on the horizon at New Beginnings Massage and Wellness, LLC. We have our own brand of all natural, locally produced, recovery cream. Dawn still provides essential oils for those who need. We are about to transition from the online dispensary we have been using for supplements to a higher quality line we have found. We are finalizing the details, but we will carry some of the more popular supplements here in the office. (Their vitamins are sourced from natural whole food, so your body recognizes it and retains it better.) We are very excited about this company, and we are very excited about what our company can do for you!
