Our New Therapist Henry
Welcome to Hoa Van Nguyen, who goes by Henry. He brings forty years of experience and a great positive attitude toward helping people. Henry brings a unique form of acupressure to our practice, one that is not prevalent in the United States. He described it to me as a “Gift from God” to the people of his home country of Vietnam. He elaborated by telling me that it is a very poor area, from where he came, and most people cannot afford much in the way of medical intervention. Henry’s acupressure therapy is very effective and non-invasive. Henry explained to me some of the differences between the Vietnamese way, and the Chinese method of acupressure of which I had been more familiar. All in all, Henry’s practiced techniques, incorporated with massage therapy, are less invasive and more to the point.
Dawn and I had the pleasure of observing Henry in action. For his hands-on interview, a client of ours with defined issues was chosen and volunteered to assist. Henry took the client’s history, assessed her, and began treatment. For this particular treatment, she remained clothed, and Henry manipulated several acupressure points while describing the benefit and demonstrating efficacy. In our presence, the client gained mobility and experienced improved circulation. Henry stated that improvement would continue, as her body healed itself. She would require followup visits, of less and less frequency, as her body adapted itself.
What can you expect from a session with Henry? Similar to most massage therapy sessions that you are familiar with, he will listen to your history and complaint. He will then determine the course of action best suited to your healing. This may involve disrobing and being covered by the sheets, as in a typical massage, or it may be performed while you are clothed, depending on your needs. After your session, Henry will recommend your follow up schedule, and give you any directions for home care he may have for you.
We are very excited to have Henry on our team! We have already seen him do great things and look forward to bringing him lots of people to help, which is his passion. During his initial period with us, the pricing for his services will mirror mine (John’s), while we figure out how best to serve our clients and continue to grow to help more.
